Retired Spotted Dalmatian Puppies Limoges Box

Spotted Dalmatian puppies, every black dot placed by hand, share the scene on this lively porcelain piece. The design has since been retired, and it was painted on a Limoges box in Limoges, France.

Seeing Spots

Few breeds are as instantly recognizable as the Dalmatian, with its crisp white coat and scattering of black spots. Puppies are born pure white and gain their spots over the first weeks, which makes a litter of spotted pups a picture of youthful energy.

Firehouse Favorites

Dalmatians once ran alongside horse-drawn fire engines, clearing the way and guarding the equipment, and they remain the mascot of firehouses across the country. That history gives this piece a second audience among firefighters, retired chiefs and fire museum volunteers.

A Spotted Shelf

• A retired design, hand-painted in Limoges, France
• Fits a dog breed, Dalmatian or firehouse grouping
• Pairs with fire engine, fire hat and other breed pieces

Give it to a Dalmatian owner, a new firefighter after graduation from the academy, or a fire station on its anniversary. In a breed cabinet or on a den shelf beside a framed department patch, it adds a cheerful burst of black and white.
