Retired Duck Nestled in an Easter Egg Limoges

A duck sits snugly nestled inside an Easter egg on this springtime porcelain piece, as if it has just hatched into the season. It is a retired design, painted by hand on a Limoges box in Limoges, France, in soft spring colors.

Hatched in Porcelain

Easter eggs and baby birds belong together, both symbols of fresh starts and the return of warm weather. Here the two combine in one small scene, the duck peeking out of its egg as though greeting the first sunny morning of April.

Two Collections in One

Egg collectors and bird collectors can both claim this piece, which makes it a handy bridge between two cabinets. It sits nicely in a shallow bowl of decorated eggs, on an Easter brunch table, or tucked into a grown-up's basket.

It also makes a thoughtful welcome for a spring baby or a cheerful present for a grandmother who decorates the house for every season. Retired Easter designs like this one are not easy to find, so seasonal collectors are glad to spot one.
