Cherubs and Cupid Angel Limoges Box

Rosy cherubs and a little cupid drift across this traditional porcelain piece, painted in the classic French manner. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, with all the softness of an old master ceiling.

Putti on Porcelain

Winged cherubs, known to art historians as putti, have floated through French painting and decoration since the Renaissance. They appear on palace ceilings, wedding fans and porcelain alike, and here they give a small box a sense of grace and old-world romance.

Blessings and Vows

Cherubs carry both sacred and romantic meaning, which makes this piece unusually versatile. It suits a christening, a first communion or a confirmation as easily as a wedding, an engagement or Valentine's Day, when the little cupid takes center stage.

Heavenly Display

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Fits an angel, cherub or religious collection
• Pairs with older French porcelain and gilded frames

Set it on a bedside table beside a rosary, on a mantel with candles, or in a curio cabinet among other angel pieces. It also makes a gentle remembrance for someone grieving, a reminder that love stays close. Because cherubs have decorated French porcelain for centuries, this box fits naturally beside antique pieces as well as new ones.
